God always wants to see us waking up each day with a sense of purpose, confidence, and an uncompromising faith that carries us through every challenge. He wants to see us walking in His power, taking captive every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing them to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthian 10:4-5). Unfortunately, this is not what our adversary wants to see, but he wants to see us in perpetual depression, feeling of rejection and defeat, and overwhelmed with life's circumstances. The truth is that the enemy succeeds in causing many Christians to live a life of constant defeat because they sometimes neglect what they must do to walk in victory.
Below are five simple yet profound ways you can walk in daily victory as a Christian:
Each day has its own challenges. So, it's important to start and end your day with prayer. Pray for wisdom and discernment to face daily challenges.
God Our Father always wants us to talk to Him. He wants to have a conversation with us, so He asks us to call unto Him in Jeremiah 33:3. We are encouraged to be anxious for nothing, but through our prayers and supplication with thanksgiving make our requests be made known to God. And by this practice will our hearts and minds be kept by the peace of God which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).
2. Consider your utterances
What are your confessions? What do you say to yourself and situations every day? Are those words the ones that will bring victory or defeat?
The Bible says, "Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18:21)
James 3:5 spoke about the tongue being a small member of the body but has the power to cause great things. You can imagine how powerful your utterances are, considering these scriptures. Your words can have an impact from generation to generation.
3. Reading and Meditating on the Word of God
We need to remind ourselves daily of our victory in Christ Jesus. The best source is to go to the word of God. We need to regularly study and meditate on the Bible to gain wisdom, plans, instructions, and guidance to face defeating thoughts. The devil sought to tempt Jesus to defeat him, but He overcame it with the scriptures. He said IT IS WRITTEN (Matthew 4:1-10). As his disciples, we ought to do the same always.
Psalm 119:105 - "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
4. Be Grateful always
The psalmist said "I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises." (Psalm 34:1 NLT)
Being grateful and praising the Lord in all situations is crucial in walking in daily victory. It's a way of showing great reverence and appreciation to God and telling Him that you are not familiar with him and all He does for you. Gratitude provokes God to do more wonders in your life.
5. A Sacrificial life
To walk in daily victory requires daily sacrifice to God. A sacrifice that pleases God is to give yourself wholly to Him, mortifying the deeds of the flesh (Romans 8:13). The flesh is an enemy that wars against the spirit (Galatians 5:17). So, God requires that you present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1).
Again, you are to sacrifice and serve others. Use your gifts and talents to serve others in love and humility. Let this mind be in you which was also in Jesus (Philippians 2:5-10).
A short prayer you can say to help you walk in victory.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before you today with gratitude in my heart for the victory we have through your Son, Jesus Christ. I ask for your guidance and strength as I walk this path as a Christian. Help me to live a life of victory in your name.
Lord, grant me the wisdom to discern right from wrong and the courage to choose what is right. Fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I may walk in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Give me the strength to overcome any challenges or temptations that come my way. Let your word be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, guiding me on the right course.
May your grace be with me always, and may I always find my victory in you. In Jesus' name, I pray.
Amen.
